My name is Emely, and I am a 27-year-old journalist who graduated from the University of Central Florida. I have had an amazing experience as a journalist so far, and I thought it would be a great idea to create a blog that reflects my journey through life as a young journalist trying to find my place in the world.
My passion for journalism started with storytelling. I found it magical to tell stories that could be remembered by many. Crafting words into sentences that informed, inspired, and engaged others—whether written or spoken—felt like magic. My writing evolved from fiction and non-fiction to include research articles and essays. No matter what I wrote, I poured my heart into it, aiming to share my perspective on life through the information I provided. Being a writer made me genuinely happy and being curious about the world around me brought so many questions to mind.
I then thought, why not make writing my profession? My mind was buzzing with possibilities. Would I be an author, a ghostwriter, a scriptwriter, or perhaps a book editor? In high school, I struggled to choose a path! However, with the guidance of my teachers, I discovered the world of journalism, and it captivated me. The idea of telling other people's stories for publications brought me immense joy, allowing me to pursue my passion.
To me, becoming a journalist has multiple meanings. It signifies being a voice for the voiceless, reporting on current events, and ensuring that the public's voice is heard amid the overwhelming sea of media and print. I am grateful for the variety of stories I have shared during my time at UCF and my internship. I would not trade this profession for anything else. I look forward to the future, and I hope you enjoy what I have to share in this blog. Thank you for reading!
